Always the Social Events of the Season Once again, the EXPO kicked off with a visit to 2500 East in

the Grand Sierra for the American Logistics and SafeGuard- sponsored welcome reception. The conversations flowed into the night with old friends who hadn’t seen each other since last year’s conference, meet and greets with our illustrious — but down to earth — EXPO speakers and even a visit from Lt. Gen. Honoré himself. Interesting introductions were made, future training sessions were planned and a story idea or two be- gan to brew in the back of more than one editor’s mind. The nightlife shifted back into high gear the next night

at a luau-themed reception sponsored by AngelTrax. The food was abundant amid traditional Polynesian music and fire dancers who got everyone everyone in attendance into the groove with a conga line. Food, fire and dancing — what more could you ask for? Some of the more adventurous attendees joined the annual slots tournament sponsored by E-Z-On Products, Inc. of Florida. Carl Alaniz, president of first-time vendor Absolute Brake, won the $500 first prize awarded by E-Z-On President Connie Murray. Second place went to Susan Reese of

El Cajon, Calif., while third place was surprisingly scooped up by Paul Nelson, a guest of one of the attendees who was talked into joining in at the last second. The visiting vendors enjoyed a relaxing break from

trade show set up during the annual Aqua Golf get- together. Staff from the more than 100 exhibiting companies attempted to outdo each other at the driving range while talking shop and sharing plenty of laughs. n
