INTERACTIVE EXCHANGES BETWEEN ART AND VIEWER

R

alfonso, as he prefers to be known publicly, is a Swiss designer of large kinetic and interactive sculptures for public places.

His passion for this particular niche of sculptural art started very early. Even as a very young boy he was always fascinated with mechanics and design. From this fascination he started to design objects and sculptures that have a motion component, in arts terms, this is generally called kinetic art.

Ralfonso says he is inspired by nature, by the shape and natural interaction of all the elements. Thus his

sculptures gently move with the wind, the water, or when pushed by hand.

“I believe that the art experience should be an active continuous exchange and discovery between art and viewer.”

So instead of a passive, static and one-sided viewing, Ralfonso strongly believes it should be a dynamic interaction where the art and the viewer change, react and interact dynamically.

With this quest for dynamic interaction and discovery, Ralfonso now has started to design sculptures that can be viewed and changed via SMS, Internet, Smart Apps – locally and from all over the world. – see EX STRATA - www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OWX2_ksSwU just as one example.

“I have been extremely fortunate as my art has brought me to see amazing places around the world, and meet wonderful people and make new friends in the process.”

His sculptures have so far been exhibited or permanently installed in Switzerland, Netherlands, Russia, China, Germany, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, France and the USA.
