Let me tell yah, there’s nothing better for the soul then to go walkabout, so that’s what I did. The aborigines express ideas, (in)sight and values in complete opposition to western thought. That may have been one of the bumps, yup. Thanks ‘red earth’ … or could it be that I’d been there before? So with my return to Vancouver and a renewed desire to create (although Perth is a magical spot I’m sure I’ll be back to) I graduated with top honors in jewellery  with and as a goldsmith, the scale was just too restrictive. Plus how does one share thought(s) in such a limited set. Okay, another much needed bump please.

SP: What or who were some of your other  F: Ah, there is much and many that have  Bottaini, Brancusi, Bugatti, Cellini, Classnitz, Csákány, Delahaye, Etrogg, Figoni, Gardener, Hatcher, Hermmerle, Jubb, Kelso, Kuczynski, Marshall, Maxwell, McKenna, Moret, PaezVilaro, Poncet, Talbot-L., Werkstrom +… are just a few that I have grown from.

SP: Your sculptures show fascinating color    F: What, an artist to divulge secrets as to his art…? Sure, creation knows all anyway. Let’s start with the alloys. I’ve experimented extensively with silver, gold and now bronze alloys to attain my own formulas that I create my sculptures from. (How does ferencium sound? hah). It gives me the ability to achieve aspects that otherwise could not be done. With my silver pieces I obtain a higher purity  elements for the alloy, other than what one could with sterling 925 (being silver & copper).  the desired material(s). Yes the ingredients are important but it’s the next steps that really bring a piece out. The cleaning, surfacing,  must be done with care. Not to mention that my polishing is done on a 6 axis method. So 
