Zoopla signs 1000 new branches in Q1
Zoopla has added 1,124 new estate and letting agent branches to its website during
the first quarter of 2012, bringing its total number of paying members to over 11,750. This is the largest quarterly increase in advertisers for the property portal since its launch four years ago and has led to the number of property listings available on the website now topping 600,000. New agent groups include
Beresfords (Essex), Farrell Heyworth (North West), Putterills (Hertfordshire), Greenslade Taylor

The former vicarage at Ashmansworth is on the market for only the third time since it was built in
1907 – and for the third time the same agency is handling the sale. The property was first auctioned
by Dreweatt Watson and Barton in 1967, when it sold for £12,400. A decade later Dreweatt Watson and Barton sold it for around £60,000 after the owner had extended the accommodation and also added garages with a staff cottage. Now, the owners are moving on, with the property offered through Carter Jonas, successors to Dreweatt Watson and Barton, for £1.75 million. Tim Barton, who joined the firm in 1977, was the third generation of Bartons in Dreweatt Watson and Barton and is still a partner with Carter Jonas in Newbury. “It’s a property with a fascinating history and an interesting connection with the firm,” says Rupert Reeves, partner at Carter Jonas in Newbury. “The house is outstanding and the growth in its value reflects real growth in its appeal and not just the way the market has risen over the years.

The transaction is now expected to complete within the next few weeks and will create a genuine challenger to current market-leader Rightmove.
