LEGISLATION MPs don’t understand the Green Deal
David Cameron’s efforts to save the Green Deal will be crucial according to the Green Deal Dialogue Group. Research conducted on behalf of group members VELUX, Land Securities and the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) by Dods found that less than half of MPs (49 per cent) will promote uptake of the Green Deal in their constituencies when it launches in October, despite many more acknowledging the benefits of the scheme for communities.
Just 49% of MPs will promote the new Green Deal
The survey of 100 MPs found that more than a fifth (21 per cent) were unlikely to promote the scheme, 20 per cent said they were neither likely nor unlikely to champion it while 11 per cent said
REFURBISHMENT Business boost For Robinson Jackson
The Bexleyheath branch of estate agency Robinson Jackson is attributing improved trading conditions to its recent office refurbishment. Branch Manager Kevin Wooder says the new look office is changing the view of people coming through the office door. “Our new first impression is brilliant. I’m sure clients walking in are mentally preparing themselves for a first-class premium service. They see an engaging shop- front, a smart office and inspiring interior – it’s an
investment from us, and an outward signal that we take pride in our business. Clients translate this to ‘they look highly professional so I’m sure they’ll take care of me’. We are finding it easier to close the deal, often at a premium. Our strong market share of the current market is becoming the lion’s share.” The new design by office
refurbishment specialist MPL Interiors has made the Bexleyheath branch in North Kent the stand-out estate agency in the area – with
neighbouring agent offices instantly looking dated and tired. Making the branch more visible and inviting was the number one priority during the planning stage, says Kevin. “Clients want to see an agency that’s evolving, keeping pace with trends and improving customer service. Our new Bexleyheath office is contemporary but remains inviting. It is the blueprint for the future and from the moment we unveiled the new look it caused a stir.” The refurbishment, which has new signage with a more sophisticated design, has triggered a wider evaluation of the Robinson Jackson offices, with another three branches already signed up for refurbishment works. Kevin concludes by saying, “We thoroughly enjoyed working with Harry Simons and his team at MPL Interiors. We chose them as they are known for creative yet effective work, and we wanted to bring a slice of that contemporary flair to Bexleyheath.”

a substantial sum in a short period. “We are currently in negotiation with a number of landowners on potential housing sites, and will sign promotion agreements once terms have been agreed.” During the past nine months
Pigeon has raised more than £9 million of equity funds for land promotion, the majority from private investors. The company is currently promoting land for more than 8,000 dwellings, and is planning to increase its promotion land bank to 25,000 dwellings over the next few years. The Pigeon Land team has been strengthened by the recent appointment of Simon Butler-Finbow as Planning Director. Simon has more than 25
