SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY OPENS IN MALLORCA ‘

Try before you buy’ is a very real consideration for those who don’t have the capital or the conviction to commit to a property purchase in today’s financial climate. As a response, Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty opened its dedicated rentals office in April this year and business is already brisk. Isabel Steinkamp, Head of

Rentals, explains the decision, “Establishing a rentals division is a logical step for us. Not only does it cater to the ‘try before you buy’ market, but it also gives our would-be vendors, who are perhaps waiting for

the property market to make a full recovery, a chance to earn some regular income from their asset. We also act as an add-on to our sales team when they are dealing with investor clients who want to maximise their return through rentals. Tenants who have a smooth and happy renting experience with us will choose Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty when they’re ready to buy.” Headquartered in Port

Andratx, Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty Rentals Division focuses on high quality apartments and villas primarily in the southwest of the Island – although the net will be spread wider for exceptional properties. Targeting long-term tenants only, Isabel is finding that almost all clients are foreigners with German, English and Scandinavians topping the enquiry list.

TOWNENDS OPENS IN NORTHFIELDS, WEST LONDON buyers and tenants looking for better value for money. This, along with the excellent transport links, has made Northfields a vibrant and desirable area in its own right. “We are really looking forward to working as part of the local community and have already signed up to sponsor the local Mount Carmel School Summer Fair on 1st July.”

Townends estate agents, part of the Badger Holdings Group, has opened a branch in Northfields, W13, extending its existing West London network of branches in Chiswick, Ealing, Brook Green and Twickenham, offering sales and a full lettings and management service.

Séamus Kavanagh, Group Chief

Executive, comments, “This is yet another exciting step forward for the Group in 2012, a year of expansion and growth. We have successfully operated in West London for many years and this new addition will help to support the growing demand we have seen come through our nearby branches. The surrounding areas, and in particular Northfields, have become increasingly popular for

Fulham last year, and is a resounding success, which Jamie hopes to emulate in Chiswick. Jamie comments, “I set up

Haus Properties last year with a

strong desire to transform peoples’ perception of the estate agency industry by offering a superior type of service. I’ve thrown out the clichés and instead, offer a completely open and honest approach to buying, selling and renting property in South West London. As with Fulham, Chiswick is a thriving community and we aim to ensure that we become intrinsic to it, not only through the services we offer, but through supporting local businesses and residents. Currently, property in Chiswick is in demand, so we really feel we can add something to the market here.”

COLLIERS SET TO GROW IN THE WEST

Following the acquisition of Colliers International’s UK operation by FirstService, the Head of the Bristol office, Tim Davies, said the buyout had recapitalised the UK business, which was now able to draw on FirstService’s financial clout. FirstService already owns 90 per cent of Colliers International globally. He said, “This deal has

raised the company’s profile across Europe and will bring benefits for our clients in the West. Colliers International is now one of the top three commercial property agencies globally, financially secure, with an A-list client base that’s already proved its loyalty to us. This will bring international business opportunities to Bristol and the South West from clients and contacts all over the world.”

Raising the company’s

profile will enable the company to introduce clients to international tenants and investors confident in the

added security of working with a top global property advisory company. “We now have the global

strength and depth of Colliers International to call upon, but we have not lost sight of the fact our local market expertise is still key. We remain passionate about the UK and our clients in the West. ”Many of our specialists

have more than 25 years’ experience in the local market which gives them unrivalled understanding of our clients’ requirements and we are determined to maintain a local as well as global perspective.” “Bristol is ideally placed to

attract inward investment; it is an important financial centre and the communications network of road, rail, air and sea is unrivalled in the UK. Whilst other parts of the UK have been ravaged by the recession Bristol has fared better and growth of the local economy is inevitable when the recovery gathers pace.”
