.... IMMIE WAS THE YOUNGEST COMPETITOR TO

Badminton Grass Roots Success for Year 10 pupil

Congratulations to Immie Long, Year 10, for a brilliant result in the Badminton Horse Trials Grass Roots Finals 2014.

At just 15 years old, Immie was the youngest competitor to qualify for the prestigious competition, a life long ambition for many amateur riders. After scoring a solid 32.3 in her dressage, Immie held her nerve to ride a fabulous double clear, finishing on her dressage score in 17th place out of 86 competitors in a very strong field.

A dedicated support team and fan club travelled up to the championships to cheer her on, and of course to watch the action in the CCI four star Badminton Horse

Trials, one of the most important fixtures in the international eventing calendar. There was a definite Mayfield presence, with 2007 Mayfield leaver Emily Llewellyn among the competitors for the fourth time. Lucy Matthews, another Mayfield old girl who rode competitively for the School for many years, was there to support her husband Sam Griffiths, who, after jumping a clear round in a very testing cross country phase, flew up the leaderboard and became the eventual winner!
