•The second Scholar’s Tea took place on Thursday 19th June, when staff from the Herstmonceux Observatory set up an inflatable planetarium in the Courtyard!

•A Level Scientists enjoyed the Summer Science Fair at the Royal Society.

•Year 7 Geographers spent a fine June day at Birling Gap collecting data to test the hypothesis that the process of longshore drift is working from west to east along the Sussex coast. A hard day’s data collection was rewarded with a quick paddle in the sea and an ice cream!

•The French immersion course in Montpellier during activities week was a great success. The girls each stayed with a host family to maximise the amount of French spoken, and spent every morning in class at the Institut Linguistique du Peyrou. The afternoons were a bit more relaxed, spent sightseeing and relaxing on the beach.

•Year 10 enjoyed a fantastic mathematical tour of London during activities week, first from a pigeon’s eye view, and then from a boat on the Thames.

•The Year 8 pupils visited the Box Hill estate to carry out Geography fieldwork data collection at the beginning of June. They will use the data to write up their investigation and prove, or disprove, the hypothesis: species diversity increases with distance from the centre of the footpath.
