W Lucy & Co: Based in Thame, was founded as an ironmongers in 1812 and is our oldest shortlisted company. Today it constitutes four diverse business units broadly covering electrical switchgear, metal castings, real estate and streetlighting controls. It employs more than 1,000 people worldwide, with operations in UK, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, South Africa, China, Thailand, Malaysia and India.

Innovation Award


Judges’ Shortlist Softcat: Based in Marlow, is an IT reseller and a leading UK provider of software licensing, hardware, security and related IT services. It believes outstanding employee satisfaction drives world-class customer service. In May it came second in the UK Great Place to Work rankings. Current turnover is approaching £500m.


Rebellion Developments: Oxford-based, it says it aims to produce “ innovative videogame products of the highest quality, to have solid links with comic, book and movie content, and ultimately ensure that the final experience is as awesome as possible.”


Magal Engineering: Companies within the Reading-based Magal Engineering group have led the automotive mechanical engineering field for more than 50 years. Modern management techniques and lean practices allowed Magal to harness those skills when it was formed in 2002. Magal now has worldwide manufacturing facilities and is a Tier 1 global supplier of components to major car manufacturers.


Fourfront Group: Fourfront has consistently broken new ground in the design and build sector, using the key strengths of its four independent but complementary businesses to produce innovative, sustainable and inspiring commercial interiors. The company was recently named as ‘One to Recognise’ in the South East in The Sunday Times Profit Track 100.
