October 6, 13, 20 and 27 Autumn Sundays, Hole Park Gardens, Rolvenden Enjoy the gardens dramatic autumn colours, including an impressive exotic border, the newly renovated sundial garden, with its white, purple and blue flowers, and the late-flowering agapanthus ‘Hole Park Blue’ - unique to Hole Park. Sundays 11am-6pm. The gardens are also open to visitors on Wednesdays and Thursdays until October 31.

October 8 and 15 Tea Talk and Walk, Maidstone Museum Meet at the Museum at 11.30am for a cup of tea, introductory talk and a walk around Maidstone, based on the subject of the day. Led by Blue Badge guide Peter Batty. £3 per ticket.


October 12 Early Bird Walk, Sissinghurst Castle Wrap up warm, wear sturdy footwear and don't forget binoculars for this early morning guided walk around the estate. Breakfast in the Granary afterwards. Booking Essential.


October 13 Festival of Apples, Bough Beech Visitor Centre, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks Stroll in the Old Apple Orchard and taste, test and select apples of all sizes, shapes and colours. Eat freshly cooked apple fritters; play the bee game; create your own apple pig; weave some willow and much more - all to the sound of the merry folk band. Noon-4.30pm.


October 18 - 20 Beer Festival, The Spa Valley Railway There will be 60 real ales and 11 ciders to choose from at the main festival at Tunbridge Wells West, down the line at Groombridge and Eridge stations, with a small selection on offer from the train Bar car, Kate. Held in association with West Kent CAMRA. Entry to the Beer Festival free.
