Birmingham Chamber’s thriving translation team has posted a record turnover of £2.5m during the last five years – despite the background of the global recession. The department – which has been in operation for 35 years – has continued to notch up contracts with a string of blue chip clients. The four strong team – which offers


translations in more than 150 different language combinations, whether technical, commercial, patents or legal information - is led by Amira Graham. The team has undertaken a number of challenging contracts in recent months including the translation of more than 160 legal contracts on behalf of a multi-national telecommunications corporation, which included employing 24 translators working through one particular weekend to produce urgently needed documents.


French, Italian, German and Spanish are among the main languages translated, although Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese contracts are also common. Language training is also available.
