CQHA Announces Change to Team Canada’s Member Roster for the 2014 AQHA Youth World Cup

Langley, BC - The USA will be the host country for the next biennial American Quarter Horse Association’s Youth World Cup to be held in Bryan College Station, Bryan, Texas from July 3-13, 2014. This event, first held in Australia in 1986 as the International Youth Quarter Horse World Cup, has become one of the most presti- gious equine competitions recognized world wide. It is a major initiative of the CQHA to field a youth team for this com- petition which is held every two years. Due to a recent withdrawal from the

team by one youth leadership member, the CQHA Youth World Cup Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Haley Franc of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan as a Leadership member for Team Canada 2014. (To see the complete roster of Team Canada members, please visit our website.)

Haley Franc Haley Franc, 16, hails from Prince

Albert Saskatchewan. She is well on her way to accomplishing her life goal of becoming one of the industry’s top horse- men and competitors in the Reining disci- pline. While Haley has focused her riding on the Reining, she also has trained in Cut- ting and Western Pleasure. Some of her many accomplishments

include being the Western Canada Region- al Circuit Champion, receiving the Saskatchewan Mentorship Honors in Rein-

ing, being the Saskatchewan High Perfor- mance Athlete Grant recipient, and winning numerous high point awards. Haley rode for Team Canada for the

North American Junior Young Rider Cham- pionships in Kentucky Lexington and was the individual gold medal winner and a member of the silver medal team. Haley competes nationally and internationally and has been recognized for her skills and hard work in youth, non-pro, limited non-pro, intermediate non-pro and open classes. Haley ended her 2012 season by receiving the honoured Equine Canada’s Junior Eques- trian of the Year Award. Although Haley spends most of her

time with horses, she attends Rivier Acade- my Independent Catholic School, and has also found time to be a competitive dancer in ballet, tap and jazz. She also volunteers with Parkrange Veterinary Services, Reining Canada and in the past, at the Red River Rid- ing and Roping Arena. Team Canada welcomes Haley as she

brings her dedication, willingness and team spirit to Bryan/College Station in July. For more information regarding the

AQHA Cloning

Lawsuit Update The American Quarter Horse Associa-

tion, March 25, 2014 - AQHA filed its Reply Brief to Plaintiffs’ Brief in the cloning lawsuit with the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. A link to the full Reply Brief can be found here. AQHA is very pleased with the work of its appellate team. The parties have requested oral argu-

ment before a Fifth Circuit panel of judges. Generally, the Fifth Circuit sends out a notice setting oral argument three to four months after the Reply Brief is filed (July- August 2014). The actual oral argument then generally takes place one to two months later (September-October 2014). However, such timeline is dependent on the Fifth Circuit’s schedule and is subject to change. AQHA will continue to keep you updated regarding the appeal. For more information about the

cloning lawsuit, view the Cloning Lawsuit Resources pages. AQHA news and information is a ser-
