Corral Chatter Back in the Saddle Again!

thought you would see me writing the news for the WHAO but here I am again.
As most of you know our current President and Editor of the WHAO news in the Rider is expecting, as I write this Lindsay has one week to
go. Well as of this day the
snow is almost all gone, at least in this area, the weather is somewhat warmer now we
just have to wait for the mud to dry up in our riding pens so the majority of us who don’t have indoor facilities can start riding again. This has been a very
exciting 2014 for the new Committee. With declining Fall Fairs, Becky has been busy contacting some of the old Fairs that hosted WHAO shows way back when. We are very excited about our first Point Award Show of the Season, the 2014 Extrav- aganza to be held JUNE 21, 2014 at the Ancaster Fair- grounds. We have the indoor arena so rain or shine we will be dry and comfortable. We do need Sponsors.

As for any Club or Organiza- tion, Sponsors are the back bone to the longevity of the Association/Club. We also need sponsors for our Year End Awards so again, open up your purse strings and help out an Association who has given you some of the best horse show memories you will ever have. I can remember the great Extrava- ganza’s of the past, which were always held at the Paris Fairgrounds. Do you remember the
dances under the grandstand, OMG they were the best. Well lets bring back all that fun, all those memories. The Western Horse Association is forever grateful to the Fairs that continue to support our Association while giving prize money back to the exhibitors. So I am challeng- ing all you past and present exhibitors to come to the Extravaganza and show or just enjoy the day with us re living old memories. In the past at year end I

Rider we are going to high- light one of our Senior Judges. You see their names, they judge you in the ring but what do they do outside of that. Well through a series of articles on our judges, we hope to give you an insight into just that. Our first Judge this month (and because I don’t show anymore I can say this) is a tall handsome gentleman Mr. Scott
Carmichael. Scott Carmichael has
worked for large equine training and breeding opera- tions in three different coun- tries. He is an AQHA Pro- fessional Horseman, WHAO Senior Judge and an AQHA Novice Judge. Scott trains Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and All Around show horses at his family farm in Fenwick, Ontario. He has trained Congress Reserve Champi- ons, Congress top tens, many futurity champions and Ontario high point earners. Every year, Scott starts many young horses for show and the race track. When Scott is not judging or training, he enjoys travelling and has vis- ited ten countries around the world.
