All change in council cabinet

TONBRIDGEand Malling Coun- cil’s cabinet has undergone a reshuffle with the reduction of one seat. Cllr Owen Baldock stepped

down from his role as environ- mental services spokesman to take up his new role as deputy mayor. His portfolio was taken up by Cllr Brian Luker, who switched from communities and health. Cllr Mark Rhodes will expand his previous community safety role to include communities and health. Council leader Nicholas Heslop

made no further changes. Other cabinet posts are Cllr Jill Anderson, housing; Cllr John Balcombe, eco- nomic regeneration; Cllr Martin Coffin, finance, innovation and property; Cllr Maria Heslop, leisure, youth and arts; Cllr Sue Murray, planning and transporta- tion.

Cllr Heslop said: “The election of

Cllr Owen Baldock as deputy mayor means that he leaves cabi- net. I have asked Cllr Brian Luker

Council leader Nicholas Heslop

to take the environmental services portfolio. I have also concluded that the previous two portfolios of communities and health, and com- munity safety are merged, and I am pleased that Cllr Mark Rhodes has agreed to take the new portfo- lio of communities, health and community safety. The cabinet is therefore reduced by one posi- tion.”
