Town Talk
SNOOKER champion Jenny Poulter is plan- ning to take a break after the closure of the Savoy Snooker Hall in Snodland High Street. Her family has run the hall for more than
20 years. “It’s the end of an era” she said. “The club
used to be a little goldmine. We used to have 15 to 20 people waiting to get on a table. Now people don’t seem to be that in- terested in snooker. “I just think kids are on computers or find-
ing other things to do.” Jenny (right) was introduced to the sport
20 years ago by her late brother John and became an expert after watching him and her dad Charles play on a three-quarter size table at the British Legion Club in Aylesford. She went on to take the world seniors women’s snooker title in 2002, winning it again in 2013. She was defeated a year later, but won the World Plate trophy. After Charles died in 1998, Jenny and her
family continued to run the hall, but the building is now up for sale. Jenny was planning to take a short break before deciding what to do next, but said she would continue to play snooker.
