The Chamber honours its ‘magnificent seven’

hirty-five businesses from hundreds of entries were shortlisted for the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) awards, producing seven winners and


three commendations. Awards were presented at the GBCC’s awards dinner at the ICC, Birmingham, before an audience of nearly 800. Tim Pile, president of Birmingham Chamber who chaired the judges, said:


“The entries from across the Greater Birmingham region were outstanding and in three categories they were so impressive that the judges also decided to award commendations.”

Excellence in customer service: Crescent Motoring Services Ltd

Excellence in contributing to the community: City Save Credit Union


EXCELLENCE IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY Citysave Credit Union: A not-for-profit membership financial services organisation, promoting high quality community-based banking services, saving and loans. Based in Waterloo Street, Birmingham, it currently has 10,000 members. Has promoted financial well-being for the local community, whether Credit Union members or not.


Excellence in the use of social media: East Staffordshire Citizens’ Advice Bureau


EXCELLENCE IN THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA East Staffordshire Citizens’ Advice Bureau: Provides free advice and is dedicated to changing the policies and practices that affect lives. The Burton-based office is pioneering social media to bring issues facing local people to a national audience and to attract wide support.

The Birmingham Science Park- based company has spent three years developing a much-needed solution to save the environment from catastrophes by developing the world’s first real-time pipeline integrity system. Commended: Specialised Orthotic Services Ltd: First dedicated specialist seating company in the UK, established in 1980. The Tutbury, Staffordshire, company has invested significantly in new technology to improve its range of products and efficiencies in the production areas.
