• An editorial article on the partner in Chamberlink during the agreement period.

• Two complimentary places at a Chamber speaker breakfast of the events partner’s choosing.

• Company logo feature in the event partner’s panel on the events page of Chamberlink

• Company logo and website address on event partners pdf and flyers used to promote the scheme throughout the year.

• A meeting with the director of events to discuss the planned activity for the period. Chamber events director Henrik Court said: “The additional features are designed to raise the partner’s profile, increase the range of activities and add more sign-posting opportunities, compared to previous schemes whilst potentially generating new customers, sales and profit as a result. “The partner scheme has seen much success

since it was introduced in 2010 with a very high partner retention rate, I think the revised scheme will be even more attractive to businesses.” The first event partner to sign-up to the new

event partner scheme is Total Gas and Power. Any interested members should call the events team on 0121 607 1772 or email events@birmingham-chamber.com

Food-Smart City seminar

The growing importance of sustainability issues for food businesses is the theme of a morning seminar organised by Universities West Midlands as part of the ‘Food-Smart City’ project. Project manager Dr Adrian Morley said: "The

rise in food prices over recent years is probably the clearest manifestation of the sustainability pressures facing the entire food system. “We are also witnessing more and more

availability challenges for manufacturers, retailers and food services alike as the resilience of supply chains is tested, as well as a growing consumer interest in aspects of sustainability such as local food, fair trade and healthy eating". The event will brief participants about these issues, the ways in which they are beginning to

impinge on business practice and the opportunities open to companies to take advantage of greater consumer and business concerns in this area. There will also be a series of 10-minute

presentations covering both research and more direct support for food businesses in the region. Participants will learn about an ambitious

collaboration between universities in the region to promote the concept of 'Food-Smart Cities'. The event will be held at Chamber House on

14 May and will run from 8.30 until 10.30, with presentations preceded and followed by networking time.

Chamber membership event relaunched

The Chamber has introduced a new format to the very popular, previously named, ‘Maximise Your Membership’ event that takes place at the Chamber’s offices each quarter. The event has been renamed ‘How to make

the most of your membership’. It will continue to be aimed at recently joined members, those new to a business that is already a member but unfamiliar as to how to utilise their membership, to those that simply wish to get an update and also potential new members who wish to see what is available. Director of events Henrik Court said: “These

events have always proved popular and there are many resulting success stories but I felt it was time to change the format slightly.” Henrik will make delegates aware of the

features and benefits of membership while giving tips and advice, so that delegates can ensure that their business is making the most of their investment in Chamber membership and getting the greatest return. New to the event format will be the

introduction of an action plan that delegates will complete during the event - ready to take back to their business for implementation. The opportunity to network with other

delegates before and after the main presentation will remain and to hear from a current member about their how they have engaged with the Chamber and their experience of doing so. Chamber event partners ISO Quality

Services, based in Worcester, will continue to sponsor the events until April 2015. The next event takes place on 9 July.
