LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES – SUMMER 2014 A series of short recitals given by local musicians Co-ordinated by Helen Deakin


Thursday 8th May:


LIz FeRGusON / KATRIN IRVINe / ROWeNA MARsHALL 3 local pianists make a welcome return appearance with a recital of solo and multi-hand piano works


Thursday 12th June:


Local accomplished saxophonist TIM WATsON recorded his 1st solo CD in 2010 with pianist John Wilson, has featured on a further 18 CDs with various ensembles. He has performed at many of the world’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall and had the honour of playing at the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday. He will be making his Flavel debut with a mix of classical and contemporary saxophone solos.


Thursday 10th July:


David Cotter (guitar) makes an eagerly awaited return visit to the Flavel, following last summer’s exciting mix of spanish / Classical / Virtuoso music from this gifted young Plymouth musician.

In their current lineup of classical string quartet, exeter Contemporary sounds chart a musical journey from the vastness of space to the earth beneath our feet. simon Belshaw’s ‘Between the Moon and the earth’ captures through live music and film the wonder of Apollo astronauts who first saw our world from space. In steve Reich’s ‘Different Trains’, railroad sounds haunt tales of trans-continental wartime journeys. Paul Whitty’s ’Bury Your Love like Treasure’ unearths sounds and songs of Devon’s red soil.

Jasper returns following his performance as the Marquis de sade in Marat/ sade (2011); Alex returns to the RsC following his recent credits in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cardenio and The City Madam.


DART MUSIC FESTIVAL 16th

We are delighted the Music Festival is back with another varied programme of events in the Flavel this year, as well as all around the town. This is always a fantastic weekend in Dartmouth, so buy your Official Dart Music Festival programme early and start planning! This is just a taster of what is on here in the Flavel. 10am-12pm Jessica Heywood’s Pupils Informal concert of cello and piano by local musicians.


10-10.45am & 11.30-12.15pm. Music with Mummy singing/dancing in the studio – fun for under 5’s. Children to be accompanied by an adult. *
