Therewere seven incidents for the same period last year.


Cricket pavilion Cllr Angela Whybrow said a resident had expressed an interest in running a café in the pavilion. Projector Cllr Jonathan Gershon had been given authority to buy a projector for £200 but said itwas not possible to buy a quiet projector within that budget. Itwas agreed that he should be allowed to spend up to £500. The projectorwould be needed to view planning applications as Maidstone Councilwould no longer be sending hard copies. Dra local plan Itwas agreed to strongly object to the larger village designation in Maidstone Council’s dra local plan, and produce a report showing the village did not have the same level of facilities that other selected parishes had. NorthWard Cllr KirstieWilliams had contacted 25 northward residents with regard to filling the vacancies on the parish council but only two had replied and they were not willing to apply. The chairman of the northward residents’ association had resigned and itwas not known if therewas a new chairman in place. Itwas agreed to find out if the association still existed, and if not, what had happened to the £200 donation the parish council had made. Notice boards The clerkwas to arrange refurbishmentwork. Church Hill An email had been received from Rev Geoff Davis expressing concern at traffic speeds on Church Hill. Itwas agreed to ask Cllr Eric Hotson to fund 20mph limits outside schools and nurseries. Quiet lanes Itwas agreed to look into the introduction of quiet lanes, where signs indicate that roads are used bywalkers and riders aswell as vehicles. Emergency plan The planwas now approved by KCC and the police. KCC would be providing handheld radios for the parish council to use in emergency. Northwardwould be included in Maidstone Council’s emergency plan, and a link to thiswould be included in the plan. Council vacancies Itwas agreed to keep one of the two vacancies open for a north ward member. Brishing Lane Maidstone Council had agreed to look into improving traffic flow and the provision of a footpath. Village hall Chris Rosswas to stand down from the commiee and new members were desperately required.Anew bar service had been set up and new fencing installed between the car park and the recreation ground. War memorial The proposed memorial would be about 1.85m high with a ragstone base and brickwork pillar inset with resin plaques bearing the names of the fallen.

Kingswood Annual meeting The annual parish meeting will take place at the village hall from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, May 17. Clubs and societies will be publicising their organisations and consultation will start on the neighbourhood plan. Crime Three incidentswere reported: vehicle interference in BellWay; burglary in BellWay and burglary (non-dwelling) in Lenham Road. Sports field The clerk had obtained two quotes forwork on the portable building: Mahew Benne £180, Mark Reynolds £200. Councillors offered thework to the candidate who had already supplied insurance details. Play areas initiative Therewas £40,000 funding per year available from Maidstone Council over five years. Itwas recommended that the parish obtained quotes for any projects likely to be ready for application when decisions regarding the neighbourhood planwere concluded. Handyman The Suon Valence handyman said hewas too busy to do the handyman job. Itwas agreed that a price should be obtained by a potential contractor to carry out initial one-off jobs to reduce any delays in smartening up the villages. Pensioners’ outingAriver trip on the Pocahontas to Southendwas recommended.Acontribution of £10 would be needed from individuals, but the trip would include the coach to Gravesend, the pier mini-rail journey to the mainland and cream tea on the return boat trip.


Chart Suon


Lilypie parking Parisioners complained that staff and customerswere parking in the AmberWay parking bays. One incident had led to confrontation between residents and customers, and a customer had become abusive. The incident had been reported to KCC Cllr Eric Hotson. Members agreed to have signs stating the bayswere for residents only. Lilypie had previously agreed to direct staff and customers to the village hall car park and Cllr Peter Forknall agreed to speak to the owner suggesting the shop erects a sign to this effect. Crime report There had been a the in PloughWents Road and a burglary in Marsham Crescent. Cllr Valerie Underdown expressed her concern at the lack of response to emails by the PCSO. Annual meeting Cllr Stephen Munford would make a presentation at the meeting on April 28. Streetlights Members agreed that an


ongoing contractwas not required and any maintenance or repairs could be carried out as required. Flytipping Thiswas reported to communitywarden Liz Lova. Flooding CllrWaring had met Kent Highway Services about flooding in Norton Road. The culvert had been rodded but the ditch needed digging out. He said the parish needed a plan of ditch locations. Shop The shop commieewanted to replace the cabin with a larger one, which would be relocated to the le of the village green. Itwas agreed that the parish council would consider helping with the purchase of a replacement cabin. Speedwatch County Cllr Eric Hotson had agreed to provide a grant towards Speedwatch equipment. Itwas also agreed to write off the parish council’s share of the existing equipment. Cllr Val Underdown said she had tried deploying Speedwatch outside Cobfields but motoristswere slowing down anyway due to parked cars.


Coxheath Council


Local plan Maidstone Council had confirmed that Coxheathwould be classified as a larger selement, rather than a rural service centre in the dra local plan. The parish councilwas to try to determine what effect thiswould have on the borough council’s proposals for development. Neighbourhood plan This had been submied to Maidstone Council andwould eventually lead to a public referendum. Play areas The parish council had expressed an interest in taking over responsibility for the two small play areas in Whitebeam Drive and to the rear of Fairhurst Drive. New councillor Cheryl Skinner had been co-opted on to the parish council to fill one of the two remaining vacancies. Nature area As part of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the parish council, plans were being made to open a nature area next to the Beacon Field off Linden Road. Medical services Discussionswere ongoing with the two medical centres in Coxheath and the NHS trust to improve services.


East Farleigh


Village car park TripleMhad reduced its quote to £39,950 for the final surface on the village car park but required half the fee up front. An application to the PublicWorks Loan Board for a loan of £32,223, repayable over 26-27 years at £2,000 a year, had been accepted. Theworkwas due to be done over the Easter holiday. Visit Ann Barnes, Kent Police crime commissioner, had visited the village to meet victims of the floods and to find out how the police had performed. Affected residents from Hartridge Farm and from the Malthouses on the Barming side of the river said they had received no communication from the emergency services. Mrs Barnes apologised for the fact that the policewere not in evidence when the Leigh barrier at Tonbridgewas opened, causing the river to rise rapidly at East Farleigh. Itwas agreed to consider an emergency flood plan at the next meeting. Crimes Therewere two crimes in the last month: the the of an anvil from a front garden in Forge Lane and the the ofwaste oil from theWalnut Tree.
