press – and Hello magazine – after snapping a cheeky “selfie” with HRH the Prince ofWales, he's now been up to No 10 for a reception with the Prime Minister. Joseph (17), from Oast Court,
Yalding, received a personal invita- tion from David Cameron to a Downing Street reception for peo- ple who helped out in the Christ- mas floods, where he also got to meet other prominent politicians. Joseph, who was introduced to
the Prime Minister when he visited Yalding a few days after the floods, said: “He remembered me, so that was quite cool.” This time, however, therewas no opportunity for Joseph to repeat his snappy camera action – all mobile phones were confiscated upon entry. mum Sally helped accommodate the homeless following the floods. Joseph is studying for A-levels in history, classics, biology and maths and hopes to read history at Oxford before pursuing a career in law.He said: “I was one of the youngest at the reception, but itwas fine. There were lots of people to talk to.” Sadly sister Laura, who also re-
ceived an invitation, was on a school trip to Italy and had to de- cline, but she hopes she might get the chance to visit Downing Street at some point in the future.

meet residents PRINCE Charles and his wife met residents and business owners from Yalding hit by the floods and chatted to everyone they met on a walkabout at the village church. Pupils from St Peter and St Paul Primary School lined the road out- side and presented Camilla with flowers before the couplewent into church to meet representatives of the emergency services and those involved in the rescue operation and ensuing clean-up. They also spoke to postmaster
Tim Chapman, whose home next to the post office was one of those hardest hit, despite being fitted with a flood-repelling ‘skirt’. He had to shut the shop for a week after thewater receded. The couple learned that Yalding
has one of the South East’s top clas- sic car restoration companies when they spoke at length to Orchard View Classic Garage owner Mark Newman, who helps with the vil- lage Scout group where Joseph and Laura learned their sailing skills. They then visited Teapot Island
in Hampstead Lane, home to one of the world’s largest teapot collec- tions, where Camilla snapped up a camel-shaped teapot. When her husband asked why, she quipped: “Camel-la, of course!”
