Scottish Malts 2014

Following the success of the 2012 event, the Scottish Malts Classic Reliability Trial and Classic Car Tour will return to Scotland on 28 April. Opening and closing at the world

famous Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, the event will once again live up to its reputation as being one of the premier classic car events in the UK. Open to cars built before 31 December 1981, the ‘Malts’ will follow the successful format of past events with driving tests on private land, regularities along some of the most stunning roads in the country and link sections allowing both crew members to enjoy the spectacular roads and scenery of Scotland. Amongst the 60-plus vehicles taking

part are a 1934 Bentley 3½-litre Hooper Bodied Sports saloon, a Porsche 911 2.7 RS Lightweight from 1973, several Mercedes SL ‘Pagodas’ from the 1960s, and many other rare and interesting classic vehicles from the 1930s right up to the 1980s. The ever popular Scottish Malts

Classic Car Tour will be run in conjunction with the Reliability Trial and is intended for crews looking for a less demanding motoring experience. Entrants on the Classic Car Tour can choose to follow the same route as the Trial but are provided with a specially printed map book and are free to visit places that interest them. The Scottish Malts also forms part of

the Golden Roamer Series for navigators, offi cially launched by HERO at Race Retro 2014. The fi rst prize for the HERO cup is one week’s sailing aboard the 95-foot yacht Orianda and the prize for winning the Golden Roamer Series is a paid standard entry into one of three rallies. www.heroevents.eu/Events/ ScottishMalts/scottish_malts_2014/
