Te capital of the Eastern Province is an economic powerhouse, but there is a blend of attractions and facilities to cater to all types of visitors

The largest city on Saudi Arabia’s east coast, Dammam is the capital of the country’s Eastern Province – one of the most oil-rich regions on the planet. Although its prosperity is founded on the area’s oil wealth on which it continues to rely, Dammam today enjoys a diversified economy that includes downstream industries, ports, logistics and distribution, as well as tourism. It is the fifth largest city in Saudi

Arabia and part of the Dammam Metropolitan Area or Greater Dammam. Comprising the ‘triplet cities’ of Dhahran, Al Khobar and Dammam, the area's population is in excess of 4.2 million, according to a 2012 estimate. Greater Dammam also includes smaller towns and cities such as Al Qatif, Safwa and Ras Tanura, all important centres for the Saudi petroleum industry.

Abdulaziz Sea Port, the biggest on the Arabian Gulf and the world’s largest airport by land area, the 780-square-kilometre King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, which handles the second highest amount of export-import traffic in Saudi Arabia after Jeddah. The airport is also served

by more than 30 regional and international carriers, such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Air India, Air Arabia, Turkish Airlines and the national flag carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), which flies to around 25 domestic and international destinations from Dammam.
