Jeddah
Te Red Sea port is an important commercial centre but, doubling a resort town, it manages to combine business with plenty of coastal leisure activities

Jeddah has long been an important urban centre on Saudi Arabia’s west coast. Founded on trade, commerce and its proximity to two of Islam’s holiest sites in Makkah and Madinah, this ancient city is today Saudi Arabia’s second biggest metropolis after Riyadh and is home to around five million people. Jeddah is Saudi Arabia’s
largest sea port and a hub for the kingdom’s engineering, industrial and scientific activities, while it is also a principal resort city. The city is served by the King Abdulaziz International Airport, the third largest airport in the kingdom. More than 65 airlines connect to all parts of the globe and the national flag carrier, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), flies to around 100 regional and international destinations

from the city, including long-haul flights to Europe, North America and the Far East. Other major global carriers that call at Jeddah are British Airways, Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air and Emirates. With its proximity to the
coast, excellent climate and commercial importance – Saudi Arabian Airlines and the Saudi Binladin Group are headquartered here – Jeddah is one of Saudi Arabia’s top meeting and conference destinations. It plays host to a broad spectrum
of major events including The Big 5 Saudi Arabia, one of the largest trade exhibitions of the construction industry, the design industry exhibition INDEX KSA, FoodEx and Machinex Arabia.
Top-class venues also contribute
to the city’s success as a conference destination, with facilities such as the Jeddah Centre for Forums and Events hosting some of the biggest trade shows of the region. A generous presence of renowned five- star properties, such as the Jeddah Hilton Hotel, the MÖvenpick Jeddah, Rosewood Corniche, Crowne Plaza Jeddah, the InterContinental and the Jeddah Marriot, take care of guest accommodation and provide additional capacity for events.
