The MRes in Public Health
We offer an MRes in Public Health which has a greater research focus. If you are interested in public health and primary care or are considering further studies such as a PhD then an MRes may be more appropriate for you.
Students on the MRes programme usually pursue a more academic or research-based career; the programme offers a flexible and efficient way for them to study whilst continuing to work in their own areas or institution.
Studying on the Manchester MPH and MRes
Studying on our course will equip with skills and knowledge to apply to contemporary public health concerns, at a local, national and international level. Through non- assessed and assessed activities, you will expand on your ability to apply relevant theory and scientific principles to practical situations.
Overall, the curriculum will help you provide evidence of meeting core-competencies in public health and will be key for professionals seeking public health registration / certification. You will develop skills in interprofessional working, vital to successful partnership working across the wide public health agenda. We offer an optional two-day induction event where students have an introduction to the programme, the online learning environment and the e-resources available. They have an opportunity to meet and discuss with lecturers, tutors and fellow students on the programme.
Internationally, we have students coming from a variety of backgrounds, such as local, national, and international governmental, non-governmental, humanitarian, or non-profit organisations. From within the UK, we recruit students from diverse backgrounds with an interest in public health, such as city councils, the NHS, charities, NGO’s and medical students who would like to add Public Health knowledge to their degree.
Career Development and Opportunities
Graduates from The University of Manchester are targeted by top recruiters. Students from our programmes secure positions with city councils, the NHS, national and international charities and NGO’s.
