Based on her 1984 hit song “The Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun” Julie Brown’s Homecoming Queen’s Got a Musical is an ‘80s music video, on stage. “I’ve always wanted to make it into a musical, it just took a awhile for me to have the time to devote to doing that and to figure out how to make [the Debbie shooting] not upsetting,” Brown stated. SHADES “Going gay” has never been more dysfunc-


tional than in Tom Hartley’s award-winning new play Shades. The story centers on a troubled high school student, who enjoys taunting gays. His life is unexpectedly turned upside down when a gift from his girlfriend changes his life forever, setting him on an often comedic course of sexual self-acceptance. CELEBRATION THEATRE’S VIBRANT VOICE AWARDS An appearance by the original ‘Golden Girl‘


Betty White, will highlight Celebration Theatre’s annual Vibrant Voice Awards benefit event taking place on Saturday, April 26 at Sound Stage 19, CBS Studio Center in Studio City. White along with her current co-stars from Hot in Cleveland, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick will be reading a classic episode of The Golden Girls and the evening will also include a special appearances by Sean Hayes. The Vibrant Voice Award is presented annually in recognition of long-term support of Celebration Theatre as well as spreading the word about the work and mission of Celebra- tion. Winners of the 2014 Vibrant Voice Awards will be Wendie Malick and Robert Forster. Now in its 31st season, Celebration Theatre is


a community of artists dedicated to presenting innovative, provocative, relevant work that examines the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgen- der and queer experience. Past recipients of the Vibrant Voice Award have included Leslie Jordan and Sharon Lawrence. A highlight of the evening will be a featured raffle for a walk-on role in a future Hot in Cleveland episode. Tickets are available at three price levels. Gold tickets are $500 each and include priority seating for the show, an exclusive meet-and-greet with the stars, a souvenir poster and priority entrance to the post-performance party on the set of Hot in Cleveland.
