From “300 of your closest friends” to 30,000 gay men from around the globe is hell of a jump; how have you managed to keep up with that massive increase in scale without bogging the party down with lines and crowd-control barriers to fun? Over the years, White Party has evolved utilizing
larger venues and larger spaces. For example the Sunday T-Dance was first held on tennis courts at the old Marquis Hotel and Villas, then it moved to the vacant lot next door, then we moved again to the present location, which is a huge lot across from the Palm Spring Convention Center. Dance music has evolved during the past 25 years, how has the White Party impacted that evolution? We’ve always had performers who we knew would
be “the next big thing,” so we’ve always been able to stay ahead of the curve in music trends. Case in point, Lady Gaga first performed at the Sunday pool party before anyone knew who she was. A year later, she returned as our main headliner and the biggest name in pop music. You’ve billed Saturday’s main event, “White Party 25 Icon” as the “party by which all other parties will be judged” and said you and your team will create an “iconic alternate universe beyond anything (a) mind and body could imagine.” That’s holding oneself to what some might consider an impossibly high standard. You’re not afraid of challenges, are you, Jef- frey? To stay ahead you have to take risks and I’m the
only one who does that. It’s what I’m known for. For me, there has to be a “wow” factor; so you do things they’ve never seen before. You are either an innova- tor, or an imitator. Fashion. How does it define the White Party—better yet, how do you and the White Party see fashion in light of the event? White Party has always been synonymous with fashion. Since we celebrate the coming of spring, guys are always excited to show off their new spring wardrobes. This year we have ES Collection, Europe’s hottest swimwear and sportswear brand, as a title sponsor. First-hand experience at the White Party informs me that, historically, there has been a lot of crystal-meth in orbit around the event. What have you done to mitigate drug use at the White Party? We have a zero tolerance policy for illicit drugs at all
White Party events and security strictly enforces this policy. Also, because of the size of our events, officers from the Palm Springs Police Department are on patrol at every event. Is it possible to have a truly exciting, even debaucherous time with lots of hot men, amazing music, marathon danc- ing and awesome sex at the White Party without drugs? Of course it is possible… If you come to the White
Party with a positive attitude, wanting to have a good time. I can’t guarantee everyone who comes through the door will get laid, but I definitely do my best to show them a good time.
