“The Yellow School Bus: Everyone Matters”

Tuesday, July 29, 2014 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Public education is the foundation of everything that is good and enduring about American life; fairness and equality of opportunity are inscribed on our national consciousness. The Yellow School Bus symbolizes the unity of our national pride and purpose. But we live in a time when this sense of social solidarity is under siege. The Yellow School Bus is the bright strand of hope that will help us reweave our future together. How we can do this together is the topic of my talk.

Keynote Presenter Peter Cookson, Jr.

Peter W. Cookson, Jr. is a passionate advocate for the rights of children and a strong system of excellent public schools. He is currently a principal researcher at the American Institute for Research in Washington, DC and teaches sociology at Georgetown University.
