THE EURO GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF VISUAL ART 4-21 April Various venues One of the UK’s boldest visual arts events show- casing a range of artistic practices. Described by the Guardian as the ‘UK’s best visual art festival’, this celebrated 19-day event includes exhibi- tions by both international and local artists. For Homecoming Scotland 2014, Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art has devel- oped an exciting special commission, which will include off-site projects by Jordan Wolfson, Charlotte Prodger and Avery Singer.

MCLAREN 2014 11 April – 3 August McLaren 2014 celebrates the centenary of pioneering Scottish artist, filmmaker and musician Norman McLaren. This programme of events explores McLaren’s life and work with special exhibitions, screenings, workshops and performances in Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the rest of the UK from April to August. Glasgow-specific events include a screening on 3 May at Glasgow Art School, Digital Animation Workshop (1 June) at the Centre for Contem- porary Arts and a 16mm Film Making and Developing Workshop (8 June) at the Centre for Contemporary Arts.

JOHN MUIR FESTIVAL 17-26 April Various venues across Scotland The John Muir Festival will celebrate the life and legacy of John Muir, a Scots-born natu- ralist and founder of America’s national parks. The festival takes place along the length of the John Muir Way, a new national pathway that stretches from Dunbar in the east to Helens- burgh in the west. Glasgow events include ‘Nature’s Peace – the Spirit of John Muir’ at Glasgow Botanic Gardens (25 April).

GENERATION May – November Various venues across Scotland A landmark series of exhibitions tracing the remarkable development of contemporary art in Scotland over the past 25 years. It will bring an ambitious and extensive programme of works of art by more than 100 artists to over 60 galleries, exhibition spaces and venues the length and breadth of Scotland, with the majority of exhibitions taking place over the summer as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme. Glasgow will showcase works by some of Scotland’s best-known contempo- rary artists – including Douglas Gordon; Sara Barker, Moyna Flannagan and Nathan Coley – at the Gallery of Modern Art.
