Colquhoun’s century A major exhibition at Kilmarnock’s Dick
Institute marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Robert Colquhoun. Comprising works from the East Ayrshire collection alongside loans from collectors and institutions across the UK, this exhibition features drawings, paintings and prints by Colquhoun and his lifelong partner Robert MacBryde, as well as a display of work by some of the neo- romantic painters who infl uenced their work. The show explores the life and work of this remarkable Scottish artist, printmaker and theatre set designer, providing an opportunity to introduce his quirky and often controversial work to a new generation. Until Saturday 19 April.

New threads Twenty textile artists from the Stirling & District Embroiderers Guild have collaborated to create a new banner. With the 140th birthday of the Stirling Smith Gallery, the 700th anniversary of Bannockburn, the centenary of the Great War, and the 50th anniversary of the Stirling-Dunedin twinning, the Year of Homecoming 2014 is a special year for Stirling and the guild members have created a work of art to mark it. The banner is on display as part of the Stirling Threads exhibition at The Smith Art Gallery until 6 April.
