Who’s a Natural Awakenings reader? Meet Marjorie Ziff-Levine

Life’s mission: To be kind, compassionate, caring and concerned, and to engender this in others. Spreading awareness, love, light, and a joie de vivre!

Work: As a steward of the Earth in steadfast service to Pa- chamama (Andean goddess known as the Earth/time mother), during the week, I work with the Naples Green Business Certification program (NPowerNaples.com/businesses), help- ing local businesses to save money and energy by becoming more efficient and resourceful. On weekends, I work with eighth-through-10th-graders helping to develop leadership skills and teaching principles of “tikkun olam” (repairing the world) at Temple Shalom Religious School.

Proudest Achievements: My 35-year marriage to a great man and our partner- ship in raising two sensitive, ethical, well-adjusted, self-sufficient, happy and suc- cessful children.

Expectations for the Future: The current shifting in consciousness will eventu- ally give rise to a new paradigm of living on the planet that will support all living organisms, creatures and forms of life in a harmonious and healthy way.

Favorite Books: Eckhart Tolle’s books, particularly A New Earth, and Loving What Is, by Byron Katie.

Favorite websites: GreenMedInfo.com and Eco-Voice.org.

Local causes supported: I have supported numerous local causes, but I am most excited about my new endeavor, 100 Women Who Care. This collective charitable giving consortium of women bands together to donate funds directly to local nonprofit organizations with the most desperate need for support. (Learn more about the March 9 kickoff at 100WomenWhoCareTeamSpirit.org. See news brief on page 12 .)

Favorite things about Natural Awakenings: I enjoy reading Sharon Bruckman’s inspiring messages in her monthly publisher’s letter. Natural Awakenings speaks to me and addresses issues that I care about and deem important.

Most frequented healthy food restaurant: Cider Press Cafe is my new spot for upscale raw, vegan and vegetarian food.

How do you invest in your community? I stay actively involved in a broad ar- ray of community causes, activities and events and focus my time and talents on initiatives that help to create a sustainable future for our area. I strongly believe in buying local to strengthen the local economy and support small business owners and mom and pop shops.

Favorite quote: “Of all the forces that make for a better world, none is so power- ful as hope. With hope, one can think, one can work, one can dream. If you have hope, you have everything.” ~ Unknown

What are you doing to be the change you want to see in the world? I consistently turn inward so that I personally embody all of the things that I wish to see in the external world, understanding fully that life on Earth is a manifestation and expression of the spirit and energy that we each engender within our own hearts, minds and bodies.
