New Women’s Charitable Giving Group Launches in Naples

1

00+ Women Who Care – Team Spirit, a collective charitable

giving group, will welcome new members to the new area chapter from 4 to 6 p.m., March 9, at The Innerlight Center, in Naples. The inaugural gathering will include a special fire ceremony led by Himalayan Yogi Laxman Raj Giri. 100 Women Who Care was begun in 2006 by Karen Dunigan, of Jackson, Michigan, as a way to raise money efficiently and quickly for local charities. Her group of 100 women each wrote a $100 check directly to a charity at the first meet- ing, raising $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for a local orga- nization. Since then, many other chapters have formed, raising more than $250,000 for local causes within their own communities. The new local chapter will meet three times annually and ask for a minimum donation of $25 per gathering. The idea is to directly donate aggregated funds to local nonprofit organizations that the group votes to be most in need of funding. Each member can nomi- nate eligible charities, and three potential recipients are chosen at random at each gathering. After presentations are made for each charity, a vote is taken and mem- bers write checks directly to the winning organization according to their own individual commitment level. The checks are then hand- delivered directly to the charity.

Location: 4810 Hickory Wood Dr. For more information or to RSVP for first gathering, email 100WomenWhoCareTeamSpirit@ gmail.com, visit 100WomenWho CareTeamSpirit.org or consult Facebook.
