Jessi Lynn December 14, 2013 McGee’s Irish Pub Anderson, SC

She added songs from her other CDs that I just had to buy before the night was over. She moved flawlessly from the poignant “Califor- nia” and “Seattle’s Rain” from her 2011 CD A Little Bit Of You to the sassy and spunky “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Like This” from her 2005 CD of the same title. Her songs move from ballads of broken

hearts and cast off romances to soulful and gritty numbers about picking up the pieces and moving on from the stuff life deals us. From these we get a glimpse of the strength and heart behind the artist. Not only is this woman a talented per-

former and songwriter, but she is also an artist and jewelry designer. Creative on sev- eral different levels, I like to think she “paints” the scenes in her songs the same way she paints her ideas and feelings onto canvas. After purchasing several other CD’s from her that night I noticed a very pretty cover on one and when reading the liner notes I learned the artwork was an original Jessi Lynn cre- ation. With the bitter cold wind blowing outside,

(Scott Glover Photo) This December was a cold one in the south

– colder than I remember in quite a few years. But after hearing one CD by Grammy- nominated and award-winning Jessi Lynn I had to make the two hour trek down tfrom my home down to my hometown of Anderson SC to catch this talented performer in person. She was doing my kind of show - a one-girl acoustic set of her own material. Until she hit the stage, however, I had no idea just how tal- ented she really is. She did some of my favorites -“Someday Soon”, “It’s You”, ”I Know How You Feel”.

we squeezed around a table and for several hours while we were lost in Jessi’s ethereal love songs and tapping our feet to her ener- getic tunes of survival and rebirth. The stage lights were a warm amber, and her voice was pure. For a whilethere, we were warm that night. Go and see her if you get a chance. You will not be diappointed. •
