SO VERY ATTRACTIVE

A FEW YEARS AGO MARK FALVAI, OWNER AND DESIGNER of Allure Tackle decided it was time to bring the trolling flasher to another level. Mixing his talents as a graphic designer with his fishing passion and know how, he started producing his ideas in a small shop in Qualicum Beach, BC. Allure Tackle flashers and spoons are serious fun. Skillfully engineered by design and colour to attract and catch fish, they are also fun conversation pieces that people love to pull from their tackle box.

The colourful, reflective graphics on Allure’s high quality blades definitely have a more organic look to them versus conventional flashers. Mark insists this is the major factor in the line’s success in the water. The gear’s success out of the water is self explanatory; many items sport beautiful images of scantily clad models. Fishermen and women love to get out on the water, enjoy the thrill of the fight, time with friends, and the prospect of filling the freezer with fresh fish. Fishing is fun! Why shouldn’t our gear reflect that? Skeptics can check out the “Dock Shots” on Allure Tackle’s website: www. looksthatkill.ca

“A large number of our customers are guides” Mark explains. “They buy our gear as a novelty item to entertain guests on the boat but what they quickly realize is that our gear is no joke.” The brand has a very loyal customer base already with guides, lodges and even some commercial boats getting on board. This year Allure Tackle plans to expand into more retail outlets. “We have a sort of cult following right now where word-of-mouth has kept us quite busy. I’ve had to work past midnight more than a few times to stock a desperate fisherman packing for a big trip and wanting more of his favourite flashers” says Mark.

NOT YOUR DAD’S FLASHER Allure Tackle’s golden egg since day one has been their Tile flasher. Instead of one large reflective band like most flashers, the Tile flasher has 95 small reflective tiles. The busy composition makes a beautiful, reflective pattern in the water. The spaces between the tiles allow the blade colour to shine through and the image on it adds colour and a more organic look. The results are deadly. From Cali- fornia to Haida Gwaii, the Tile flasher has been Allure’s number one seller and producer. Mark believes he has made a major breakthrough with his Tile flashers and expects there will be a lot of copy-cats in the years to come.

THE NEXT BIG THING The success of the Tile flasher has inspired the Mark 1. The flashers that fish the best are arguably the ones that mimic a feeding salmon. The Mark 1 does just that with its solid prism band on the lower portion of the flasher and a smaller version of the Tile pattern on the top. The design is fairly new but has tested very well. It will no doubt be a leader in the 2014 line up for Allure Tackle.
