Seminar: “Drivers and Drugs in an Accident: How- To Defend Your Company”


Date: Nov. 13, 2013 Time: 12:00-1:00 pm Location: UTA building; 4181 W. 2100 S., West Valley City Cost: $50 for members, $75 for non- members Company: Snow, Christensen & Martineau Presenters Name: Juli Blanch---Shareholder at Snow, Christensen & Martineau who has been defending trucking com- panies and other defendants for 20 years. She has extensive trial experience. Andrew M. Morse--Shareholder at Snow, Christensen & Martineau with 30 years trial experience. He has been trying trucking cases for 25 years. Summary of Presentation: The trial lawyers will review a recent case: The trial, the evidence, the arguments of counsel and other issues. The facts include: the truck driver had taken meth- amphetamine at 5:00, and then went to work. He drove double 40 foot belly dumps all day. On his way home a motorist pulled a U turn right in front of him, hitting him in his right side fuel tank. The driver swerved left on the two lane Bachus Highway to avoid the collision, then steered back to the right to avoid an oncoming pickup. Although the tractor avoided the pickup, the second trailer hit the pickup. Its driver was pinned in the cab when a fire con- sumed the truck and killed the driver.


During the seminar we will be going over the details on how they were able to settle the case without a total loss to the trucking company and some steps that you need to prepare if an event simi- lar to this were to happen at your trucking company. Refreshments will be served.
