UTAMEMBERS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT VISIT PORTS DURING DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK

Last week during Driver Appreciation week UTA mem-

bers, staff, Utah Highway Patrol and UDOT Motor Carrier Division visited 4 Utah Port of Entries and passed out goodies to the drivers passing through. At our visit at the Echo Port a driver passed through the port and was so surprised and grateful that we would take the time to give out something that he called his girlfriend and she sent an e-mail thanking us. Here is the e-mail “My boy- friend who drives for “Lesser” out of Missouri just came through the port of entry out of Coalville, Utah..He came in out of Wyoming. He was truly touched by the entry welcome he received. These people took out their time to welcome and thank the truck drivers of America. The donut, pen, paper, just the thought of them standing there to say “Thank You” was just awesome. We know the gentleman standing there handing out a great wel- come also have a hard job, but my boyfriend has driven for 30 years and has never seen anything like this. Thank you so much!” Michele Kay Owens, Holts Summit, Missouri. You

would be surprised how many drivers tell us that this is the first time anyone have given them anything in appre- ciation for being a professional driver. UTA thanks every- one who participated at the Echo, Perry, Wendover and St. George Port of Entries. We also thank the supervisors of the Ports and their team for being so kind and helpful during our visits. Thanks to everyone who took the time to appreciate your drivers. UT
