DRIVER APPRECIATIONWEEK SUTA and UTA members show up for driver appreciation all over the state

SUTA APPRECIATES DRIVERS IN A BIG WAY During Truck Driver Appreciation Week,

the Southern Utah Trucking Association (SUTA) offered appreciation in grand style. To kick events off, Rick Clasby, Utah Trucking Association (UTA) Executive Director was given the opportunity to speak to the St. George Chamber of Commerce. He provided an overview of the UTA and SUTA, discussed the positive impact trucking has on the economy and provided safety statistics relative to signifi- cant declines in truck related crashes and safety enhancements. He also invited attendees to assist in distributing gratuity bags to drivers the following morning. On Thursday, Sept 18 dozens of volun-

teers lined both the north and southbound ramps of the St. George Port of Entry to distribute goody bags. The bags consisted of peanuts/popcorn, bananas/apples, chips water/PowerAde and a thank you message from the associations. Volunteers repre- sented SUTA and UTA leadership, local trucking companies, Chamber members, local businesses, UDOT port officials and the Highway Patrol. UTA officials appreci- ate the enormous effort committed toward planning this event and soliciting giveaway products. SUTA leadership is to be com- mended for the hard work and dedication to recognizing our nation’s drivers. They also expressed sincere appreciation to all who dedicated the major portion of a day to volunteering to serve at this event.
