With so much stuff, you’ll probably buy as much for yourself as for the people on your list! Just down the block from Obelisk is Establish, the

DAISY AND JESSICA’S by daisy torres & jessica d’nalga

SERIOUSLY, someone needs to tell Mother Nature that we’re in the middle of winter and that those hot days in November were totally uncalled for! I mean come on, we want to dress in layers, scarfs

and sexy winter clothing, but instead we had to wear booty shorts and sandals on those hot days! Even though November was still full of fun, well at least for Daisy, all that heat makes it hard to get into the holiday spirit. Hopefully you made it out and about for some of

the month’s events, we certainly had a fun time cel- ebrating the 40-year anniversary of the LGBT Center! Everyone who attended was dazzling in sequins and black tie outfits. It was also nice to see so many familiar faces at

Luigi Vera’s annual Black Friday sale. Sorry if we were a little aggressive over that pair of shoes. But they were our PRECIOUS... Besides, Luigi always has plenty of new items arriving for you to add to your closet. Moving to December, with all its sparkle and holi-

day magic…or is it just the egg nog and hot punch? At any rate, there are some fantastic events to mark on your calendar to make this the best December ever. Let’s kick off the month at the Civic Center for the Million Dollar Quartet. This Tony Award-winning musical is inspired by the electrifying true story of a famed recording session in which Sam Phillips, the

“Father of Rock ‘n Roll” brought together musical icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night. Can we say; “A great show to take the family, the parents or, a date?” The show goes formTuesday, December 3 through Sunday, December 8 for one week only, For ticketsgo tobroadwaysd.com. Daisy: Here’s a shameless plug for the Golden

Chicks’ first night at the Brass Rail on Saturday, December 14 in celebration of cast member Miss Lady O’s birthday. We aren’t sure exactly how old she is, but at her age, we’re just grateful for every second with her. There will be a second chance to see us on Thursday, December 19 at #1 Fifth Avenue, both shows are unique with a rotating cast and girl, we always “bring it” to the stage. The theme this month we will be very festive so join in the holiday spirit with your Chicks. Jessica: If you haven’t already checked out these

divas, of which two are my sisters, I recommend you do! These hos sure know how to be jolly… and who knows, they may pop a molly and pull a Miley! Daisy: Quick reminder, if you are attending or hosting anUgly Christmas Sweater Party and don’t know where to get the best looking sweater then you should check out the selection at Luigis One of a Kind Boutique. As we have told you many times before; Luigi has everything from brand new stylish

home goods store that has ever-so-special items from children’s gifts to bicycles (take a look at the one featured in our gift guide on page 42). Our last little spot to recommend is for that difficult-to-buy-for designer maven on your list; look no further than Cody’s on University Avenue, right next to Fiesta Cantina! With so many luxurious homey items, you will make that picky person smile with approval. We recommend this stage show every year, but for

ADVENTURES

us, the holidays aren’t complete if we don’t attend How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Old Globe Theatre. You can catch the shownow through Sat- urday, December 28, so “Welcome Christmas” and log on to get your tickets attheoldglobe.org. Jessica: Not only was this one of my favorite books

growing up, I remember torturing my mom to read the book even when it wasn’t December! So if you truly want to get into the holidays, this is definitely a “must see!” Daisy: It’s become a tradition to see The Grinch…

and I love young Max, the actor is so cute and, one day, I will catch me that pup. Jessica: Oh Daisy, you are so naughty! Just leave

poor Max alone and enjoy the show! We know there are tons of things to do for theNew

Year. Our one recommendation to welcome in 2014 is Martinis Above Fourth which will be featuring the very handsome, all-male string quartet, Well Strung. They’re a group of extremely talented musi- cians who mix classical music with pop hits. The New Year’s Premier reservation includes entertainment, a four-course dinner, the main stage performance and Champagne toast at midnight. For reservationsgo to martinisabovefourth.com. Well everyone, it’s time to say goodbye to 2013 and

say hello to 2014. Spend a wonderful December with friends and family, remember to be kind, give back and never lose that kid inside. Keep in mind what the holidays are about and be thankful for having those we love in our lives. Take a second to catch a cutie underneath the mistletoe and don’t do too much “stocking stuffing”!
