Papier AG in Austria, part of the Heinzel Group, has reportedly helped underpin the success of its two SC paper machines. Laakirchen Papier is regarded as a benchmark for high-quality magazine paper production and the Janus Mk2 offline multi-nip calender is a key part of the system. “The calender is running close

to its design speed. We can thus increase the efficiency and availability of the Janus only by improving the running intervals of its covers,” said Roland Stadlhuber, the production engineer responsible for the calender at Laakirchen Papier. NanoPro, which was developed in close collaboration with leading calender operators, is designed for just such applications, says Voith. “With its wear resistance and

the special vibration dampening base layer, it clearly allows more projectable and more reliable running times in critical positions. NanoPro Papier has had its longest run times with

Oulu mill being modernised by Stora Enso

Stora Enso has ordered equipment for the modernisation of the fibreline at its Oulu mill in Finland. Objective of the project is to improve operational cost efficiency by reducing energy and chemical consumption. The modernised plant will be started up in two phases in 2014 and 2015.

the Janus calender. Each cover change saved results in higher availability of the calender, but also lower costs for regrinds and transport of the covers,” said Stadlhuber.

Heinzel acquired the former SCA paper mill at Laakirchen in April 2013, renaming it Laakirchen Papier AG. In 2012 it had a capacity of 540,000 tonnes per year and sales of €308 million.

Roll handling orders for MoveRoll from the US

Finnish roll handling equipment manufacturer MoveRoll reports that that it received a number of orders for horizontal conveyors, turntables, and centralising modules from paper mills in Texas, Ohio and Georgia in the US for delivery before the end of 2013. “I am very pleased to see

drum displacer washer. The Oulu mill has an annual production capacity of 1,125,000 tons of coated wood-free paper and 370,000 tons of long-fibre pulp.

that our new and innovative technology has been very well received by paper mills and system suppliers in North America. Getting this kind of

acceptance is a proof of the high quality of our products.” says MoveRoll chief executive Mikko Rantanen. With Georgia-based sales partner RTS Alliance, MoveRoll has developed a sales network for products and spare parts covering the whole of North America. Complex roll handling projects are handled by assembly partners, such as Advanced Dynamics that lately received orders for two major systems including a variety of MoveRoll products.
