These measures took many shapes and forms, whether it be replacing old or outdated technology or investing in items such as the latest and most efficient machine clothing. At the end of the day it has all been about reducing production
costs while optimising production quality and keeping employees in a job. This path to better productivity has also been seen by those who supply the industry with essential machinery and technology and I am sure this will continue into 2014. Last month at Lucca in Italy it was the 20th anniversary of
MIAC, which was again a great success with 4,108 visitors of whom almost a third were revisiting the show the following day. More than 30 per cent came from outside Italy. Visitors came from 59 different countries. What was interesting for those who were not able to attend
MIAC was the announcement of a new bi-annual event: MIAC Tissue Business Point which will be held from 26-27 March 2014. You can obtain more information from
