NOVEMBER As you may notice, I’m flying solo this month. My little sister needed a vaca-

tion and had so much to work on that I had to tackle this month’s adventures alone. But don’t worry, I can handle it. Beside that, it just gives me more space for abiggerpicture of me! I’m always attempting to get you involved in something more than a week-

end drunk-night at your traditional watering hole, so let’s broaden our agenda and experience new social scenes. My first recommendation for November is theOne-Year Anniversary of the

San Diego Multicultural LGBT Literary Foundation at Bamboo Lounge on Saturday, November 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. What does the foundation, do you ask? The group discusses one book per month, on the first and third Sunday of every month and meets at Bluestocking Books located at 3817 5th Avenue. You can call at 619.296.1424 or e-mail the facilitator at lgbtdiversitybookclub@ yahoo.com for more information. The group picks novels that range widely and focuses on issues of social justice, narrative and community politics. They alternate between male and female authors on a monthly basis. And yes, it’s time to join a book club and get reading! Everyone knows I love Broadway musicals (what good queen doesn’t?) and

I’m looking forward to the production of Evita happening from Tuesday, November 12 through Sunday, November 17 at the Civic Theater—“Don’t cry for me Argentina...” Also, If you love Harry Potter, you won’t want to miss the unauthorized parody Potted Potter at the Balboa Theatre fromWednesday, November 6 through Sunday, November 10. For tickets and more informa- tion on either show go tobroadwaysd.com. Ok, I know I said we need to get past the “party lifestyle” but how can I resist

DAISY’S ADVENTURES

the opportunity to invite you guys to Overdrive at Spin Nightclub on Satur- day, November 16? This is the launch of a new quarterly after-hours event for all the manly men. A place to enjoy buff, sexy go-go dancers—hopefully with some scruff on their face (love me some scruff). Kicking off the party will be internationally known DJ Joe Gauthreaux. Woof-woof. Want to know were I will be on Black Friday? At Luigi Vera’s One of a Kind

Boutiquefor their annual sale. With 50 percent off every item in the store, from apparel to accessories and shoes (apart from the fabulous vintage items) the shop always has plenty of new trendy items to add to your closets. So don’t miss out! And just in case, I’m apologizing in advance for any elbowing or shoving I might be compelled to do during shopping...I just can’t help myself. The Golden Chicks are at it again this month with two different venues and

two different shows. First is Saturday, November 9 at the Brass Rail. We will be celebrating Kalane Neors’ birthday—can you believe she is…0? You add the numbers to that yourself, I wont be accused of throwing shade. $5 cover, drink specials and entertainment by the fabulous Golden Chicks. The next show will be at #1 Fifth Avenue on Thursday, November 21, with no cover and drink specials. Both shows are unique and will start at 8:30 p.m., so don’t be late. And a special invitation to Kalane’s Fundraiser for Christie’s Place on Saturday, November 16,back atTheBrass Rail. We know November is all about family gatherings and big meals. Some don’t

OCTOBER WAS A CRAZY MONTH… But it always is. Between leather balls, bear nights, fashion weeks, galas and

Halloween costumes, it’s always a month of running like a chicken with its head cut off. I won’t bore you with the fun details of my October, but I hope you were out there enjoying the month’s festivities as much as I was. A big thank you to the Helix boys, especially my bud, David Quintanilla, for inviting me to emcee the fantastic Haunting of the Helix Mansion on Saturday, October 26 at the Overlook mansion…love me some Helix boys in costumes. Where can I buy a dozen?

have close bonds with their family of origin, but we can all build a great family with our friends, which can sometimes be stronger than blood. As they say, we don’t choose our family, but we do choose our friends. Gather your “family” and enjoy their company, but also remember those who don’t have close connec- tions or are in need of help. Share your talents by volunteering at a charity and open your hearts to someone in need. I know, I know, I’m getting sentimental. I will stop, but remember to have a great month. I hope we see you out and about. Let’s get ready for December.
