spaspotlight Assuage Spa Knows How to Pamper by Lee Walker S

outhwest Floridians in need of a local, but exotic escape with the feel of Morocco’s opulence, rainbows of jewel tone colors and spice market fragrances will enjoy luxuri- ous pampering at Assuage Spa, in Fort Myers. A tranquil relief for the senses, the medical spa is chemical-free and noise-free. “We have no nail or hair salon, which means we focus on the face and body. By incorporating ancient holistic approaches, many of which I tried during my world travels to satisfy my interest in cultural healing, we make pampering an art form at As- suage,” says spa owner Tehjan Prendiville, a registered nurse who has worked in the mental health field for 26 years. Assuage Spa is located adjacent to the South Fort Myers office of facial plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Prendiville, who serves as the spa’s medical director for lymphatic drainage and post-mastectomy massage, as well as special facials and peels. He is also available to administer a full line of injectables. In addition to massages, facials and skin treatments, As- suage Spa offers unusual services for the body and mind. The Body Vibration Slimming Therapy includes a vibration plat- form to increase bone density, as well as blood and lymph

circulation. The therapy also reduces pain and inflammation, promotes immune response and accelerates the healing of fractures, strains and sprains. Rapid Resolution Therapy, for trauma treatment, is a cutting-edge approach to heal- ing and positive change that utilizes precise multilevel hypnotic communication. All services are accompanied by the com- plimentary use of the spa’s steam shower and sauna. Clients are encouraged to enjoy lounging on Moroccan couches in the intimate atmo- sphere of the relaxation room. “Our mission is to enhance over- all health by taking a holistic approach to the entire individual, which includes mind, body and spirit,” says Prendiville. “Guests feel the difference the moment they enter As-

suage,” advises Prendiville. “The ambiance of the interior has been tailored to set the stage for pleasure. The colors are vi- brant, with a distinct Moroccan flair. The interior design, truly unique for this area, prepares the guest for a totally relaxing spa experience.”
