Hundreds of thousands of people visited Southampton this summer to enjoy Marwell Wildlife’s stunning Go! Rhinos trail and, although the sculpture trail officially ended on September 22, it’s not too late to say goodbye to the much- loved rhinos

Once the rhinos have departed Southampton they will be having a short break from the limelight before they make their way to Marwell Zoo for a Rhinotastic event.

What’s more, the free Go! Rhinos app is still available on smart phones and includes lots of exclusive offers.

Kirstie Mathieson, Go! Rhinos project manager, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response to Go! Rhinos. So many families have enjoyed the trail and I know many will be sad to see them leave the city.

“But there’s still our Rhinotastic event at the zoo where visitors can register for a telephone bid or a sealed bid to buy one of our sculptures ahead of the auction at the end of October.“

Erin Rees celebrates finishing the rhino trail

The Rhinotastic farewell event takes place from October 11- 14 and, as well as seeing the spectacle of all 97 sculptures together, there will be lots of other activities for visitors, including crafts and special talks.

The rhino sculptures will then go to auction at the end of October to raise funds for Marwell Wildlife, The Rose Road Association and Wessex Heartbeat’s HIGH 5 Appeal.
