They are provided with all the tools they need, and this includes technical experts qualified in Microsoft, Cisco and VMWare, sales teams who help close business and create winning business plans, and in-house marketing support to save precious time on collateral which can also be co-branded.

Due to high demand and business partner success, C4L has now launched an official online portal to allow new business partners to apply to join the network and begin working more closely with them. Once signed up, partners can access marketing and sales resources, sales support and

Electronic communication gains ground

A retail software specialist helping thousands of companies trade electronically without the need for paper documentation is to expand operations at a thriving business hub in Portsmouth.

Transalis, which is Latin for moving from one place to another, has leased a second office at Portsmouth Technopole after relocating its sales force from London amid record growth.

With 3,000 supply chain clients, including names such as Argos,

Universal, Superdrug, Microsoft and EMI, the 17-strong firm has seen turnover rise by more than a third in the past 12 months.

Adam Swanson, business development manager, said: “Our markets show us there is much scope for continued growth; a leading UK retail report found that 81% of companies still use some form of manual, paper-based processes for their orders, invoices, credit and dispatch notes and sales and inventory reports.“

Transalis provides electronic data interchange (EDI) and developed its award-winning product OpenEDI as the ’glue’ to enable companies of all sizes, regardless of IT deployed, to communicate electronically and seamlessly anywhere in the world.

“Paper-based processes are a relic in the digital age, yet many firms are still unaware of the considerable benefits of EDI, which is easy to set up, faster, more accurate, eliminates paper and delivers cost savings on average of £14 per order.“

Latest clients to sign up to the company’s services are e-retailer The Hut Group and fellow Portsmouth Technopole occupier Bladez Toyz.

Portsmouth Technopole, located by the M275 gateway into the city and run by business and innovation centres specialist Oxford Innovation, now has an occupancy rate of 92%.

Air festival gets connected

C4L supplied Bournemouth Air Festival TV with wireless Internet connectivity, to support the streaming of video content throughout the recent annual four-day event which was held on Bournemouth seafront.

The company’s wireless network delivered the video action displayed on LED screens along the beach, so that it could be relayed over the Internet and streamed to the websites of local radio and news stations.

C4L has a track record of supporting high-profile short-term events like the Air Festival plus the recent Camp Bestival event at Lulworth Castle, being one of the only local companies with the capability.

Matt Hawkins, founder and chairman, said: “Supplying large- scale Internet connectivity like this for such a huge event for the town is a great showcase for one of the services we offer, and supporting local events is close to our hearts.“
