Northgate firmly establish itself within the Slough business community
As the newest addition to Northgate Vehicle Hire’s 65-strong branch network, Slough is already experiencing success, with the latest figures indicating an impressive 250% gain on planned 'vehicles on hire'. To celebrate, Northgate is inviting Slough’s £2.5 million thriving business community to its open evening on October 16
The market leader in flexible vehicle hire and fleet management has launched its new branch on Slough Trading Estate, the largest privately-owned trading estate in Europe. The branch, situated on Bath Road, spans across half an acre, with capacity for up to 70 light commercial vehicles and cars at any one time.
The new branch, which has brought six new jobs to Slough, is attributing its successful first month of trading to its strong product offering and the appealing launch package available, which provides local businesses with vehicle hire from just £55 per week. The celebratory open evening is being launched with an open invitation to The Business Magazine’s readers and the local business community. Those attending the open day will have the opportunity to meet the branch team and discover more about Northgate’s flexible vehicle hire product; an offering that has seen Northgate become one of the UK’s leading vehicle hire companies. Visitors can also enjoy a complimentary evening buffet, the opportunity to enter a prize draw raffle and network with other businesses.
On the opening of the new branch in Slough and Northgate’s offering to the local business community, Marcus Strong, Northgate Vehicle Hire’s area operations manager, commented: “Slough is listed as one of the top three most productive towns in the UK outside of London and is home to some of the best known names in business. This allows us a unique opportunity to broaden our client base and offer our bespoke flexible vehicle hire packages to local businesses. With Northgate’s flexible vehicle hire product, local businesses can add and remove vehicles to their fleet at any time without penalty; ideal for companies with fluctuating demands throughout the year. Team this offering with our ability to take control of all servicing and maintenance administration, and we’re confident that Northgate Slough will help to further strengthen the local business economy, in what is set to be a successful future for the area.”
Mark Beattie, new business manager for Northgate Vehicle Hire’s Slough branch, commented: “Through supporting the needs of the local businesses we are establishing ourselves as an

integral resource for companies of all sizes, from independent start-ups and SMEs to blue-chips and PLCs. We know how critical our customers’ vehicles are to them and how changes in business activity can directly affect its fleet requirements. Our Slough customers can also take advantage of our vehicle customisation offering, which sees anything from tow bars and beacons to internal and external racking and personalised livery added to their vehicles.”
Beattie continued: “Our offering is further supported by our network of wholly-owned workshops and team of FTA-approved mobile technicians, which ensures that we can react to our customers’ needs quickly and conveniently. Ultimately, we understand that our customers need their vehicles to be on the road all of the time and utilised 100%, which is our number one focus. We welcome anyone considering their vehicle acquisition options and looking to reduce fleet costs to visit our Slough branch and discuss opportunities with us.”
The new Slough branch features contemporary and comfortable waiting areas for customers, with designated hire desk staff and access to the latest fuel-efficient vehicles from leading manufacturers such as Ford, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen and Peugeot. In addition to the opening deals on offer to local businesses, such as commercial vehicle hire from £55 per week, the recent introduction of Northgate’s daily hire product allows the general public to benefit from extremely competitive daily hire rates on both cars and vans.
The Slough branch opening forms part of Northgate’s plans to expand its UK network, providing efficient and effective solutions to businesses where the running of fleets, whether it is one, 100 or 1,000 vehicles, is central to their operations. Northgate’s customer base operates across more than twenty industry sectors including construction, manufacturing, utilities, wholesale
and retail trade, and freight, logistics and transport. With many of these industries facing fluctuations in trading patterns through the year as well as uncertainty in trading from month to month, Northgate’s flexible offering is an integral factor to the success it is currently seeing across these sectors.
The traditional method of fleet acquisition is purchase, with many larger businesses and organisations entering into contract hire agreements. These methods of acquisition give no protection against the change in demand experienced by many businesses throughout the year. Should contracts be lost or business slow down, vehicles remain unused in yards but still have to be paid for, which naturally affects a company’s balance sheet. Through working in partnership with Northgate, the worry over depreciating assets and the spiraling cost of maintenance as vehicles age, is completely removed.
Northgate Vehicle Hire has branches across 65 locations in the UK and Ireland, with its head office in Darlington.
