Judges assess Business Awards entries
Judges were this month poring over the entries for the 2013 Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards – to draw up shortlists. Some entrants were due to be interviewed in the coming weeks to help decide the finalists and winners of these prestigious awards
Eight award categories are up for grabs – with the finalists being invited to the gala black-tie awards dinner at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading, on November 21.
The business media and radio stations were covering the process this month as entries closed on October 4 – and sponsors prepared to analyse applications for the Green Progress Award, Management Team Award, Dynamic Business Award, SME Award, Best Company to Work For, Best Use of Technology, Charity of the Year, and the Thames Valley Business of the Year category.
Not only will finalists attend the gala dinner, the winners of each award will be invited to a special Roundtable breakfast event at Cliveden, the luxury hotel, in the New Year.
Reading-based Ultima Business Solutions, which won Best Company to Work For in 2012, has come on board as an award sponsor for the first time, with Annette Shuff, its HR manager saying that winning the 2012 award had delivered tangible benefits in helping recruit and attract new staff.
And winner of last year’s Charity of the Year award, Helen & Douglas House Hospice, was delighted with the profile that has come from being a winner. Chief executive Tom Hill commented: “Receiving the award has greatly improved the charity's standing in the business community throughout the Thames Valley.”
Guest of honour at the Awards evening on Thursday, November 21, at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading, will be award-winning journalist, broadcaster and author John Sergeant.
The awards host will once again be Martin Stanford, newsreader with Sky News, who was so well received last year.
