D’Arcy predicts that while the big brand incomers will capture some of the “high-volume, routine” legal work, at the more “sophisticated” end of the market, specialist expertise will always be in demand.


As it looks proudly ahead, Blandy & Blandy’s roots remain firmly anchored in Reading and D’Arcy, who arrived in 1974 to study at the university, says he is always grateful for his good fortune in choosing such a dynamic place to work.


“The town has changed enormously but while many of our competitors have opened offices in London or elsewhere, we have deliberately chosen to keep our focus on Reading and the Thames Valley,” he said.
