Tis year’s JCI Scotland conference was held in Edinburgh on 26-28 April and aſter JCI Glasgow’s success at last year’s ‘Home’ event (Best Local President, Best Member, Best Debater, Best Trainer, Best First Timer and Debating Champions) we were determined to make a name for ourselves at the conference in our friendly rival’s back yard. Tis year the competition was fiercer with
Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow all represented in the Debating and Public speaking competitions and the pressure was on to show that last year’s ‘controversial’ debating final was not a fluke. However, with the competitions taking place on the Saturday morning, Friday was a

friendly and relaxed affair with delegates from as far afield as Malta, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Ghana, Catalonia and Barnsley descending on the capital for registration, catching up with old friends and the CYEA (Creative Young Entrepreneur Award). Tere were also two business speeches
from Chris Tiso, CEO of Tiso Group Ltd, and Jessica Dennison of ‘Stoat’s Porridge Bars’. We are proud to report that despite losing
our debating title, JCI Glasgow took the lion’s share of prizes with Best President – Iain Brown, Best Member – Lauren Murray, Best Programme – ‘An evening with ... ’, and the much-coveted Best Local Chapter.
