MSFRIENDS LIVING WITH MS
Connecting with others with similar life experiences can be powerful for positive personal change. You have probably heard about the National MS Society’s peer connection programs specifically for people living with MS. What you may not know is that these also exist for family members of those living with MS.
SELF HELP GROUPS
Self-help groups bring people together on a regular basis for mutual support, education and camaraderie. Groups may focus on support, advocacy, education, or be more social in nature. Many self- help groups welcome care partners as well as those living with MS. Call 1-800-344-4967 to find a group near you.
MSFriends is a telephone-based peer support program. CareCall, a service of MSFriends, is for family members of people living with MS. By calling CareCall you will reach trained, supportive volunteers who understand what you are going through. There is a call-back service for family members of those living with MS.
Call 1-866-MSFriends (1-866-673- 7436) to talk to a volunteer. Hours of live operation are 7:00 a.m. until Midnight, EST, seven days a week. Leave a message with the volunteer who answers and a trained volunteer who also has a family member with MS will call you back to provide support.
MSFriends enables you to speak with a person who knows firsthand what it is like to care about someone with MS.
ONLINE PEER CONNECTIONS
Through the Online Peer Connections program you can search for and connect with a peer support volunteer who has “been there” and
