News, Products, Services A premium finish, at a sensible price

Polyx Oil from Osmo UK is a premium wood finish guaranteed to keep wooden surfaces in top condition. Ideal for solid engineered or laminate wood floors, it is a high quality, water-repellent and tread-resistant wood finish based on natural ingredients. Available in a matt, clear and satin- matt finishes, the Polyx Oil range offers the highest coverage of any oil on the market - a 2.5 litre can cover approximately 30m2

with two coats.

Polyx Oil is also extremely easy to apply, Simply brush on to the wood surface to achieve deep, long- lasting penetration. Another key benefit of this wax- oil is that Polyx Oil has a reduced solvent content. Therefore it is virtually odourless, making Polyx Oil a much healthier (and also more pleasant) wood care product to use. And for anyone suffering from asthma or other breathing problems, an odourless waxoil is much preferred that conventional, solvent-based oil or wax finishes. It also contains no biocides or preservatives.

Offering all the professional features of a traditional oil-based finish, Polyx Oil combines the smooth surface of conventional lacquers, and the ease of application of a water-based finish, while managing to eliminate the inherent disadvantages of these other types of finish. Unlike ordinary oil finish products which form a film on the wood, Polyx Oil’s natural components penetrate deeply into the wood to create a micro-porous finish. This allows the wood to breathe, moisture to evaporate and

ensures a flawless finish both upon application and for many years to come.

After treatment the wood is stregthened from within and retains its elasticity. It becomes water repellent, stain resistant and more hard-wearing, because it meets the wood’s natural demands and does not crack, flake, peel or blister.

Senior’s Showroom Support

The demand for Senior’s Hybrid System in the home improvement sector continues to increase with the launch of ‘Homes by Senior’; a range of products and services aimed directly at the homeowner. To help meet the demand to see installed products, Senior’s are providing fully working examples in showrooms across the country.

Sealant and sealant-taming brand, CornerTape has introduced a brand new product to its award-winning portfolio with the launch of SiloconeXP - a two in one waterproof sealant and super strong adhesive.

SiliconeXP - the Xtreme Performance Sealant & Adhesive available in black and white and SiloconeXC, the clear version - is a modified silicone polymer, developed by CornerTape to be used not only as a flexible, durable silicone sealant in bathrooms, kitchens and other applications but also instead of screws, nails or other fixings to bond an array of common home maintenance and building materials including brick, concrete, steel, common plastics, polystyrene, timber, laminate, MDF, plaster, marble, stone, glass, percelain and glazed surfaces.

100% waterproof, 100% anti-mould and 100% flexible forever, the Xtreme Performance of SiliconeXP and Silicone XC is highly evident. It will not shrink or crack and actually repels fungus and mould from its surface and around it; it is useable in temperatures to -20°C; it can be painted over for a permanent finish; it does not contain Isocyanides - a family of widely used highly reactive chemicals - so is odourless and can be used safely in confined spaces; and it can be applied directly to wet surfaces making it an ideal choice for both indoor and outdoor projects. It can even be used under water.

The tube is clear allowing the user to see the colour of the contents and exactly how much is left, and both SiliconeXP and SiliconeXC share the world’s first, patented and incredibly popular multi-coloured Anti-drip Valve and Pre-Cut Nozzle System with CornerTape’s SiliconePro Kitchen and Bathroom Sealant.

Designed for greater control, less mess and less wasts, the Anti-Drip valve prevents overspill by switching off the flow of sealant and the Pre-Cut Nozzle System consists of four nozzles screwed and nested together, each pre-cut at the optimum angle of 45° and each a different size to produce a silicone bead that corresponds with CornerTape itself, at 2.5mm, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm. A cap sits atop the smallest nozzle and any cured sealant can be easily removed by simply unscrewing the nozzles.

‘Express Bi Folding Doors’ extensive showroom in Redhill was the first to be chosen and fitted out with Senior’s new Hybrid ‘Lift n Slide’ door finished in solid oak. The installation is complete with Hybrid Curtain wall consisting of 120mm deep solid oak mullions and transoms, and a Hybrid Series 1 casement window, also in solid oak.

Express Bi Folding Doors MD, Steve Bromberg, is pleased to be backing ‘Homes by Senior’ and comments, “We have recently extended our showroom to include a wide range of home improvement

products; Senior’s Hybris Systems are our latest addition and has proven very popular with visitors. The high quality finish of the aluminium on the outside and the solid oak on the inside fits in with our concept of offering high quality products at affordable prices. We’ve seen business increase of late as homeowners look to improving their properties rather than moving.

“Customers confirm to us that they make their final decision on which product suits them on handling the product in the showroom. A small sample shown in the home is not good enough anymore, consumers are becoming much more informed and demand a better service when it comes to their important project. With the interest shown so far in the Hybrid product ‘Homes by Senior’ should be a big success!”.

Over the last few years the ‘Grand Designs’ effect has certainly captured peoples imagination and more upmarket home improvement projects are being undertaken. Senior’s Hybrid Systems allow the home designer to complete any glazed structure safe in the knowledge that performance is built in.

‘Homes by Senior’s’ will be launched at the FIT show in April.
