operations, enhances XDCAM HD422 workflow and is suitable for both in-house and field operations due to its versatility. Usage applications that can benefit from the PMW-1000 include ENG, studio and OB productions by broadcasters.

LiveU’s LU40 unit and the AG-HPX600 are interconnected via the SDI and USB. Live camera video (HD/SD signals) can be transmitted through up to six connections via the LU40. This upgrade will allow the uplink ‘start-and-stop’ to be controlled from the AG-HPX600, and the LU40 status to be displayed on the AG-HPX600 viewfinder, enabling camera operators to relay live video securely. An optional upgrade system has been introduced in the camera recorder so that only necessary functions, such as an Internet connection (AG-SFU601G) and VFR recording (AG-SFU602G), etc., are installed. Upgrade for Studio Camera Systems

A major free firmware upgrade for the new AK-HC3800 studio camera system, announced by Panasonic supports 720/59.94 output from the studio camera and enables IP control between the AK-HRP200 remote operation panel (ROP) and the AK-HCU200 camera control unit (CCU). The upgrade also allows the ROP to set-up and control up to 19 PTZ cameras (such as the AW-HE120, AW-HE60H/S, and AW-HE50H/S) via IP.

The HC3800 camera system also offers standard RS-422 serial control and connectivity between the studio camera, CCU and ROP. With the firmware upgrade, the ROP will deliver direct cabled or IP control of virtually any Panasonic studio or remote HD camera.

The addition of 720/59.94 output from the AK-HCU200 CCU diversifies recording and transmission choices for operators of the HC3800 system, which can also be switched to allow worldwide use at 1080/59.94i and 1080/50i.

The AK-HRP200 remote operation panel (also called paintbox) offers extensive camera control over serial or IP connections, and SD card memory for easier setup and systems management. With this free version 2.0 firmware upgrade, the HRP200 can also adjust such popular cameras as the AW-HE120, AK-HC1500 (serial only) and many others. Remote lens control of these and other cameras is also available from the HRP200. (www.pro-av.panasonic.net)

Memory Recording Deck for XDCAM HD422 Workflow

The new PMW-1000 XDCAM HD422 Recording Deck has been announced by Sony. The half-rack sized recorder, with two SxS memory card slots and VTR-like jog/shuttle

Based on a service-oriented architecture and an easy to use graphical user interface, the GV Stratus application framework brings the concept of nonlinear production – where production and distribution operations merge onto one collaborative platform to broadcasters and media companies of all sizes.

The PMW-1000 drives enhanced XDCAM HD422 workflow with tape-like operation including linear ingest with RS- 422 control and linear editing (as player) with jog/shuttle control. This similar operability to tape-based devices brings familiarity to operators accustomed to them. The VTR-like jog/shuttle dial and RS-422 control also come into play when ingesting is done in baseband through an ingest controller at broadcast stations where a content server may be in operation. The device also provides outstanding MPEG HD422 picture quality as well as high quality eight channel (HD-SDI) 24-bit audio recording capability, all packed in a compact sized deck.

Besides MPEG HD422, the PMW-1000 also supports XAVC Intra HD record/playback**, enhancing the XDCAM HD workflow in the operation of cameras such as Sony’s PMW-F5 and PMW-F55. The PMW-1000 is the only recorder which can record the XAVC HD format in SxS media***. It is also useful in the playback of XAVC HD recorded contents on professional monitors. The device can operate on AC, DC or battery power, thus can be used in both in-house and field operations such as studio or OB productions. (www.pro.sony-asia.com)
